Today, the beautiful Samii La’Morte, an Australian model, is telling us a little bit about her tattoos – many of which were done by her tattoo-artist husband. You can follow her on Instagram @samiilamorte or catch her on Tumblr – she’s the tattooedbeachbum.
When did you discover your love for body modification?
Well, I kind of always knew I wanted to get a tattoo. When I was younger, I just thought it was bad ass! Hahaha! But I never really thought about it until I met my husband, Smeer, who is a tattooist, so when I was 18 he gave me my first tattoo, and I haven’t been able to stop since then..I’m 24 now!
When did you get your first tattoo? What was it?
When I was 18, a small anchor on the inside of my wrist with the initials L.A.M. It stands for my mom dad and brothers names.
What inspired your tattoos?
Mostly just things I like in general; girly, pretty things and anything thing to do with the sea/beach, and also my childhood love for Disney.
What’s the main influence behind your body work?
I think just the lifestyle I live. I’m a very free spirit and I love art and being creative. My husband is an artist and tattooist so I’m constantly surrounded by lovely imagery. Life in general inspires me to get more tattoos. You only live once and I want to have a good time and decorate myself doing it!
What do your tattoos mean to you?
A lot of people have deep meaning behind their tattoos, but mine do not have secrets and individual meaning behind them They mean so much more to me just because my husband has done them all and I’m glad I have all his work on me, and it will always be with me.
What’s your favorite piece?
I think my portrait of my little chihuahua, Teeny, on my thigh is my favourite piece. She melts my heart and Smeer captured her perfectly in a tattoo.
Do you plan on getting more tattoos?
Of course I do, but Smeer has been planning on retiring for ages now. I keep wanting more, poor man!
What was your most painful tattoo? Why?
Hmm… I have 3 spots that were most painful and uncomfortable – they were the chest where my roses are, my elbow (oh my poor elbow!), and my foot tattoos, which only getting half way through them I decided to buy numbing cream (which is actually amazing!). I’m plowing through my tattoos now. Haha!
Do you prefer one style of tattoo over another?
Not really, I’m intrigued with most styles of tattoos. Although I mostly ended up getting old school/traditional stuff, I also have cutesy things on me and mendhi.
If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would it be?
Audrey Hepburn, Angelina Jolie and Barbara Eden. They are my 3 most favourite women!
