Tattoo Q&A: An Interview with Brittany Britton

• When did you discover your love for body modification?

I feel like I began to take an interest in body modification as I was younger, only because it was so “intense” back then. Now it’s much more accepted and that makes it even more interesting to me because it allows all different types of people to feel comfortable expressing themselves through their body mods.

• When did you get your first tattoo? What was it?

I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday. Me and a couple of girlfriends skipped school at lunch and went and got them. I got a small dove on my right shoulder.

• What inspired your tattoos?

Anything that involved art inspired my tattoos because in my mind I knew I could get all types of art tattooed on me. For example, my fiancé is an artist and I love that I will forever have his artwork on me.

• What’s the main influence behind your body work?

The main influence behind my work is all the things I care about and things that mean something to me. Things that don’t have to make sense to anybody else.

• What do you think your tattoos say about you?

I wear my heart on my sleeve.

• What do your tattoos mean to you?

They mean a lot because they are forever mine.

• What’s your favorite piece?

I have three: My left sleeve with a buck in honor of my pops, because he likes to hunt. I also really love the gnome I got for my mom. She has sweet yard gnomes hidden all down the driveway at their lake house. Lastly, a rose for my beautiful daughter, Marki Amarosa “Rose”. My fiancé did all the tattoos.

• Do you plan on getting more tattoos?

I do plan to get more tattoos, plus I would like to finish the ones I’m working on now soon!

• What was your most painful tattoo? Why?

That’s a tough one… I’d have to say my ribs or my torso area. They both really suck!

• How many sessions did your tattoo take?

I’ve lost count.

• What’s your opinion on flash art?

I don’t really have an opinion on flash art. I don’t have any…but art is art to me. I just prefer others I guess.

• Do you prefer one style of tattoo over another?

I’m really digging the black and grey and realism.

• If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would it be?

If I could have dinner with any three people it would be J.F.K, and my grandma and grandpa that I lost. I would love to have a conversation with them!

• If you could time travel, where would you go and why?

I’d time travel to the 50’s so I could wear poodle skirts.

• If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

If I could have any superpower, I would choose to fly.
