Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re here to stay. The tribal-esque butterfly eloquently placed at the small of the back, all the while she’s wearing low riding jeans, and a crop top so you get a real good look… you know these are among the most popular tattoo designs there are! How many girls do you know who rock these? The lower back is still one of the hottest spots to get a tat, and even with the lable of “tramp stamp,” girls still love this spot for some ink. The low back is obviously sexy, and getting a tattoo here is undeniably alluring.
Lower back tattoos saw an enormous rise in popularity during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, as more and more women got tattoos. Several reasons for this were to play; and with women declaring their sexiness with the art of ink, in a spot so deliciously feminine, it was hard for anyone of the female sex not to crave one!
Over the years, it did not hurt the movement at all with many celebrities (who happen to all be sex symbols in their own rights) like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Anna Kournikova, Angelina Jolie, and Lady Gaga proudly displaying the body art at their low backs.
The popularity kinda went out of control with these, and it’s not hard to know why. So popular in fact, that even with the negatively acquired, somewhat derogatory slang of “tramp stamp,” it doesn’t stop others from admiring them, nor does it stop girls from getting them (the day they turn 18)!
