If you’re looking for a piercing that can be tough and tender and flirty and feminine all at once, you may be looking for a lip piercing! Lip piercings emphasize a woman’s mouth, and you’ll find that once you get one, the people around you won’t be takes your eyes off of it! If you are interested in a lip ring, remember that you need to choose between a labret and a pair of snakebite piercings. Which one is right for you?
The labret is the classic, hands down. This piercing sits at the center of your lower lip, and you can choose a stud or a ring for it. You’ll find that it places a lovely sparkle right at your lower lip. A labret looks good on most people, but if you have a very full lower lip, you might be stuck with a larger ring than you might like. You may also find that the shadow of your lip hides a very small piercing. While of course there’s nothing wrong with bigger jewelry, this might make your labret more obvious than you prefer. |

Snakebites are slightly newer than labrets when it comes to piercings, and they are placed on either side of your mouth. One common placement is to put them each about ¼ inch away from the center of your lip or less. This is a wonderfully daring piercing; it is less common than the labret, and it allows girls with larger lower lips to choose more dainty jewelry. Rings are more common for this type of piercing, though some people can absolutely make the studs look better. People say that it takes an adventurous girl to pull of snakebites; personally, I think they look good on shy girls as well as bold ones! | |
If I had to pick between a labret and a pair of snakebites, it would be a tough contest. They’re both gorgeous piercings, and in all honesty, if you love your piercing, that makes a huge difference in my book. In general, I tend to adore the look of snakebites. There’s something outrageous about two piercings rather than one, and let’s not forget about the awesome name, as well!
If you are looking for the right lip piercing, consider the shape of your face and your lips. How bold do you want your lip jewelry to be, and what is going to make you the most comfortable? |
