One of my concerns when I was about half way through my pregnancy and expanding at an alarming rate was “what am I going to do with my belly button ring?” I didn’t want to take it out. I had tried switching to different jewelry and found that a beaded captive was the most comfortable, but only for a short period. Then came the time when I had to remove it and at this juncture, I didn’t know there were alternatives out there, and jewelry tailor made for this exact scenario. So instead I asked around to some of my friends and the best answer I got was fishing line. With that I was off to my local sporting goods store and proceeded to thread my navel piercing. It was very low budget looking and anytime I had to show my stomach for some reason, there was this big plastic knot that I had to explain.
As the next few months passed the clear plastic started to turn yellow and dingy, but there was no way I was chancing replacing it with fresh line for fear that I would never get it back in. In hindsight the whole thing was not a big deal, at all but at least now knowing that I can just purchase something meant for pregnant women will be one less thing to even have to think about!
